Wild Readers

This year's Summer Reading Program is all about exploring the outdoors.  Join us each week as we learn how to have fun and be safe in the woods. 

Below are our weekly events. You can contact us at rpldirector162@gmail.com or 413-862-6221 to sign up for the whole summer, or for individual programs. 

Summer Reading Kick-off

Join us for our summer reading kick-off on June 20th from 10 - noon. There will be games, face painting, snacks, and entertainment in the park behind the library, and you can sign up kids ages 3-10 for our "Wild Reader" themed summer reading program. All are welcome!

Take A Hike!

Learn how to read maps, check the weather, and evaluate the environment when planning for fun and safety on the trail.

Be A Pack Rat!

Wednesday, July 8

What's the difference between a day pack and a backpack? What should you pack in each one? What do you need in your pack to help you follow Leave No Trace principles while hiking and camping? Learn these skills and more in this week's summer reading program.

Learn how to avoid needing first aid, and also how to use first aid in case of an accident. Jade from Hilltown Ambulance will teach some basic first aid skills.

Join naturalist Tom Tyning and his reptile friends to learn how to respectfully observe wildlife with curious caution.
